Freestone Partners, LLC, Announces Investment in Lynx Chemical Group, LLC

JULY 18, 2003, HOUSTON - Freestone Partners, LLC, announced that it has invested in Lynx Chemical Group, LLC, a Georgia-based company that has acquired two specialty chemical manufacturing plants from Birmingham, Alabama-based Vulcan Materials Company. Freestone made its investment in partnership with First Capital Group of Texas III, LP and a management team. The plants do custom manufacturing of specialty chemicals for the pulp and paper, water treatment, rubber and plastics and industrial intermediates markets. As a custom manufacturer, Lynx’s customers generally are other chemical manufacturers who need a relatively small volume of a specialty chemical and who do not want to or cannot manufacture the product themselves. Jim Lewis, a 30-year veteran of Eastman Chemical Company, is the CEO of Lynx Chemical Group. Lewis commented, “We are excited about the opportunities in custom specialty chemical manufacturing and believe we have the right strategy and team for taking advantage of them.”
